Works for me.

The local cops are driving me nuts lately. I swear they have nothing better to do, but I see them constantly setting up speed traps. Its like some sort of police state thats always watching you. Between my house and the highway is about 1.5 miles, and I have passed 3 police cars shooting radar.

Then the state guys are going nuts on the highway. I never go over 70 anymore because chances are really good I'll pass at least one on my short I95 hop.

The city is screaming about lower taxes this year, hmm I can think of some cuts.

I think with the economic slow down the state and city are hurting for money so they are trying to extract a bit more tax money from everyone.

.

The local newspaper would probably like to hear your story.

I can see a black and white picture of that guys jacket laying in the trash.

And the publicity will warn your neighbors, and maybe even run the guy off.

You might even get to expose the inept cops.

Have Fun !

Hiding behind a fence, jumping behind a tree---sure sounds like he's not all there. I wonder if he threw his coat away to be less identifiable as you think or maybe it was hampering his escape. In other words, if he didn't see you take the coat, maybe he'll be back for it. He doesn't seem to be too bright. If you still have the coat, you might check any of the local church clothing drives to see if they recognize it and who they gave it to.

Good idea. The church down the street has meals for homeless on Tuesday nights. I know the priest. I'll take the jacket down and ask her if she recognizes it.

Kerry,

I'm not sure what I'd do, other than what you've done already - except for alert every household in the neighborhood - along with posting a sketch of the suspect. But, I live in a defined neighborhood with an HOA; your situation may be much more difficult.

Check to see if there is some Neighborhood Watch or a local Guardian Angels chapter you might contact. If not, you can always organize/coordinate a meeting with the police department and community members to talk about safety, awareness, etc.

I suspect your daughter's school has a zero tolerance policy and anything sharper than a spoon will not be tolerated. That includes any sprays or stun guns.

Another poster suggested some defense training/skills. GREAT IDEA! There may be some low cost classes locally that are available through the NRA or similar organization.

Keep 'em safe!

wow

Seriously Kerry - best wishes in remediating this unfortunate situation. As a father of 3 daughters, my heart aches reading all this.

I think a national Mshop GTG should be organized in Denver and we'll canvas the entire neighborhood searching for the creep.

In addition to a .44 bull pup, my wife carries bear mace. Should be readily available in your area. With proper training (wind, ect....) much more effective and safe for the user than stun gun, imo.

Cops ARE, not can be, USELESS. I had to tell them where to look for the guy who stole my stuff otherwise all they were interested is to bust speeders. I have NO use for them except to fill out police reports. They are AFTER THE FACT.

I wouldn't bother too much with the database. Sometimes it MIGHT get updated, sometimes not. Besides, he has had to had a prior to be there. In any case, as a child molester, I certainly would not be going near my own area for fear of recognition. I'd go to someplace I have staked out but don't live at.

Probably naivete. I would warn her of the dangers of the world and that it isn't going to be Red Riding Hood where the woodcutter comes to rescue her.

Why? That means they have work to do. Somebody that could fight back. Speeding tickets are much easier. The guy writes the ticket, get to threaten you and go back home with his hair still done properly.

I don't like pepper spray because if the wind isn't right, you might get a face full of the stuff plus you have to actually practice and get it right. Most are too lazy to learn properly

I can feel for you...as I read the story, I wished a tragic end to that individual!!

We had a registered sex offender living across the street from us not long ago. The school bus even stopped in front of the house!

He had done time years ago for molesting a 9-yr old girl. My daughter was 9 at the time he lived in our neighborhood.

My wife happened to check the website and discovered that he lived there. She alerted the rest of the families in the neighborhood and got the bus service to move the bus stop.

Fortunately, the predator was renting and moved out a few months later.

But if you check around, you'll be surprised how many predators live in your area!!

It's likely to be a fruitless quest but if I don't make the attempt and something does happen to someone, it'd be a hard pill to swallow.
I need to develop a clear plan of action should I spot him.
Waste of time. You probably scared him into another neighborhood by now

Which is easier to get their quota from? Somebody speeding that probably will take the ticket and go off or wrestling a drunk that will fight or chasing a perp like this guy?
