Total amnesty was given to them in 1986, but guess what? Millions of them kept coming. And these are mostly the bottom of the barrel intheir countries, people barely literate, or uneducated, and utterly without skills. Many are or become criminals, never even mind thaqt border jumping itself is a criminal act.

What is being done to their countries to stop it? They could care less, because they are rid of those people, and they benefit from the millions of dollars they receive from the illegals that is remitted home and gets spent in their economies and not in the USA.

What is being done to people who hire them in the USA?

And, their babies are ALL automatically US citizens. What about that?

It's deplorable. I do feel some sense of shame that my grandparents came over from Europe to the U.S. 100 years ago and, but for their naive method of entry into the U.S. through Ellis island and failure to become anything but law-abiding U.S. resdients, pretty much fit the above description.

I guess you won't be seeing me sitting next to you at the next John Birch Society soiree.

Yes it is. Did you read the link you provided? If its not customary what are all those people doing at sporting events? The simultaneous left tit scratch?

301. National anthem

How Current is This?
(a) Designation.— The composition consisting of the words and music known as the Star-Spangled Banner is the national anthem.
(b) Conduct During Playing.— During a rendition of the national anthem— (1) when the flag is displayed— (A) all present except those in uniform should stand at attention facing the flag with the right hand over the heart;
(B) men not in uniform should remove their headdress with their right hand and hold the headdress at the left shoulder, the hand being over the heart; and
(C) individuals in uniform should give the military salute at the first note of the anthem and maintain that position until the last note; and

(2) when the flag is not displayed, all present should face toward the music and act in the same manner they would if the flag were displayed.

Yes I read the link. It points out that hand over heart during the anthem has fallen out of current usage somewhat.

I respect the flag and the origins of this country, even mixed as they were.

My love of these things has been somewhat tarnished by the trashing I've received over the years from people cloaked in it about my Vietnam war non-participation. We hoisted the flag over that barbaric misadventure and have made approximately zero atonement for it, unless you count the many vets who have gone over on their own to try to make peace with the people they blindly fought against years ago.

For a good view of that, see "Little Dieter Needs to Fly," the Herzog documentary on the same topic as his drama "Rescue Dawn."
