I am going to look at a 1999 Saturn for a second car. I know about the plastic body panels, but are there other areas to look at to see if there is a fatal amount of rust. This is in the Toronto area, so rust is to be expected. I can't believe that any car is immune to rust!

How safe would a plastic car like that be in an accident?

You could buy a car that was made of paper mache, too, and it would get would get really good gas mileage, but is it worth the risk of what could happen to you in a bad accident if you were in it?
