X2, Turkey is my favorite. And they make an 80 proof version for those not up to the 101 proof.

I checked around and it appears that Bourbon can be made in any state. But today in the state store I found every brand of Bourbon on the shelf to be made in Kentucky. I bought a bottle of Jack, made in Tennesee.

I treat myself to a bottle of Glenfiddich about once a year.
I messed up recently, a niece and her hubby live in Edinburgh. She visited here last week and could have brought me something not sold here, had I asked.

Last year, my brother in law had a straight rye whiskey tasting . . . turns out that $15 Old Overholt holds its own against some boutique ryes.

Rye is actually Maryland's native home state whiskey aint it? Can recollect nothin tastes better than rye'n ginger.... And that leads to me to somethin i like about bourbons, can mix em with anything from orange juice to ice cream.

Actually you can git 100+ proof barrel strength in any of the bourbons including Maker's Mark, Heaven Hill, Ezra Brooks, Weller's, Beam and others. Reconnoitre they git reduced in strength when blended and bottled.

Barton's for example is available in 80, 86, 90 and 100* proof. And sold on same shelf of local liquor stores w/ price differentials of coupla dollars with 100* bein the most expensive.

BTW, terrific bourbon festival just south of louahville 3rd week in Sept. It's like battle of brands with everybody pushin their best, barrel races, bourbo-cue cookouts, top flight country music too. And all of yer favorite participating distilleries mostly located less than 1/2 hour of the event.

I think the stuff from Tennessee is called Tennessee corn whiskey. You know how people can get sometimes about these little nuances . . . .

That's what I use for making Manhattans. They were invented during Prohibition when the only liquor readily available was Canadian, which I understand is mostly Rye.

It's maker's mark for me too. Unless I'm drinking a manhattan then I like wild turkey.

One of my fondest memories is touring the Jack Daniels Distillery years ago. Don't really drink jack these days, especially since they changed the formula and made it weaker.

Pappy Van Winkle's is thought by many to be the best. They make one of the only aged bourbons. They have a twenty-five year old bourbon I'd like to try.

I don't touch the stuff but used to work with a guy who carried a fifth of Maker's Mark with him on the golf course one hot day, drank the whole damn thing over 18 holes and never drank any water. I was slugging bottled water like a fiend and this SOB was just pouring that bourbon down. He was clearly drunk at the end, but was still vertical. I think I would have turned into a raisin and died in that heat. Guess he had some practice.

no mention of corn, and since it's not labeled as bourbon, there's no requirement that it be made from a minimum amount of corn.

I have drinken a bit of JD Black lable but I havn't really gotten into any Bourbon's or Whiskey that much. Unless you count mixed drinks like car bombs, which I wouldn't.

Whats the best way to drink a good Bourbon? On the rocks?

Rum and Vodka are my favorites. Rum and cokes rule!

Best way to drink any good whisk(e)y is neat and at room temperature.

Well, excuuuuuuuse meeeeeee! I was only going on my memory which ain't what it used to be. I think sour mash IS fermented corn, though. I don't care. I still prefer real KENTUCKY bourbon.
