Excuse me while I rant for a moment. Have you ever put a kitchen sink in an existing cabinet?

There should be a law that prohibits sink base cabinets from being smaller than 36" wide. Those clips that lock the rim of the sink should extend down past the bottom of the sink to a place where you can actually touch them with your fingers, and reach them with the tools required to fasten them down.

The hoses, tubing, and connectors should be truly standardized by law, and mixing various sized tubing, elbows, and other odd plumbing items in the wrong bins should be made a capital offense carrying a manditory death penalty.

Lastly, I should quit trying to fix things that break around the house because "it's not that hard. I can do that in an hour or so . . . "

Well, now I must go back and finish hooking the disposal back up, but thank you for allowing me to rant and rave for a moment. I feel better now.

Unless the plumbing was done more than a few decades ago or by another DIY homeowner, plumbing fittings, like electrical wiring, is pretty much standardized.

Oh really, it's no problem. It's easy. It'll only take me a couple a hours to do THAT. Pffft!

You don’t want to get so caught up in the sink and it’s plumbing, that you forget about the dishwasher plumbing and drain issues related to it all.

The last thing we want to hear about, is how you finally got it installed…. Sat down to relax with a glass of Scotch…. And then you proceeded to flood the kitchen 6 hours later when you did a load of dishes.

Been there, done that. My last kitchen sink project took a full weekend and numerous trips for parts/supplies. Ended up with a bag full of incorrect and unneeded parts. When I was finally done with no leaks I celebrated with a bottle of Macallan single malt.

Leo slunked out of the room, dragging his unused pool noodle and deflated raft in search of something else to to this afternoon.

Done several, but usually I buy out Home Depot, and spend 4 days in the return section.

The home projects I tackle these days are pretty straightforward, as the house was constructed in '98. If anything, the job I do is actually better, as I replace the crappy contractor-grade components with higher-quality stuff.

Now our first home, a 1939 tudor was a completely different example! Hours extended into days, as well as the numerous trips to the hardware store to get adapters to mate the old with the new!!!
