What is the general rule?

Do you guys always tell your signifacant other what your doing? Say you are working on your beloved other signicant other (Mercedes-Benz) and you say you will be upstairs when you are done putting the spark plugs in. After you put them in you take the car around the block to make sure its all good, and your woman comes down and sees you gone and gets really POed because you didn't tell her that you were going around the block? Do I have the right to defend myself in saying that I don't have to tell here everything like that, or am I just an *********?

You're just an *********. You were wrong and she is right. Now, having said that, you will get some nookie.

M'am. The husband believes that any answer he gives will be the wrong one and if he reverses himself, the wife will beat him harder. M'am.

Seriously, if you were going round the block to test drive the car, I don't see that as an issue. My wife, OTOH, sees it as a major issue when it is dark because some of my work revolves around a 383 Vette that gets LOUD and the neighbors might get testy. If I brought my cell phone with me so she can reach me if I break down or vice versa, she won't have a problem. Her issue mainly is that I am out in BFE and without a wallet or cell phone and no way to get in touch with someone should I break down.

You need a more secure girlfriend.

I really liked that about my last girlfriend, she wasn't needy. We did stuff together and talked a lot but didn't call eachother every 5 minutes, and didn't feel attached at the hip.

The last EX g/f who lived with me called the office one day at 5:10 pm. Now, I only live 3-4 minutes from work.

"Why aren't you home yet?" The beginning of the end.

How long have you known her? Lived with her? If it's a new relationship, it'll likely get worse. On second thought, new or not, it'll probably get worse, at least in your own mind. That's all that matters.

Good Luck with it.

And what kind is that?

Would you believe I was thinking about how Siamese twins found attachment?

I'd probably say something like "Well, just wanted to make sure the thing ran properly. Better tonight/now than tommorrow morning while trying to get to work on time. Wouldn't want to bother you for a ride to work..."

That's EXACTLY what I said! But appparently not telling her I was gonna swing around the block was "blowing her off". Is this a sign that its only gonna get worse if I freakin marry her?

Best policy is always stick with the truth.

If she doesn't like that or gets mad at you for something innocent, then she has issues.

Now on the other hand if you told her you were going to take the car out for a test-drive and stopped at the bar for a couple hours then you have the issue.

Most often it is a cycle of the man lying because he doesn't want to get yelled at and the woman yelling at him because she wants to keep taps on him (needy). Both are at fault. That is why the stone-cold truth is always the best policy. If you can find someone you can tell the stone cold truth to and they to you then you have found the right one.

If you truthfully only took it around the block for less than 5 minutes, then yes it will only get worse.

But if you told her you were gone for 'a few minutes' and then were gone for much longer, it is your issue.

As a courtesy, I always tell the GF if I'm going to run up the street or down to the store. It doesn't take but a second. Sometimes, since the garage is a fair distance from the house, I tell her I'm working on the car and I might take it out later for a test. For that matter, If I know she's taking a nap or in bed, she doesn't even notice I've left.
