What's the nicest Father's Day present you ever got?

*** Read the fine print...it might save your @... ***

I have a tie (Yep, a TIE!) that I got back in either '93 or '94...

At first, I thought it was brightly colored Easter Eggs (????) - I couldn't quite figure out why eggs on Fathers' Day, but I didn't want to seem miffed, perplexed or whatever, so it was, "Cool!" (First tie...had to say something...)

Then, a few years (Really!) later, the wife asked me why I don't wear my Harley tie that much...

HUH????

"I don't have any Harley tie."

"Yes you do!"

"No, I don't! When did I get a Harley tie?"

"For Fathers' Day! Scott gave it to you!" (she's starting to sound a little miffed at this point...)

"That tie? I thought it was Easter Eggs (The pattern is BRIGHTLY COLORED HARLEY TANKS!), that's why I only wore it around Easter."

She drags the tie out and shows me the word "Harley" printed ALL OVER THE TIE!

I NOW pay attention to THE SMALL DETAILS.

Turns out, this is the ONLY tie I own that gets any comments and those comments are all positive. I've even had people (Harley folks) that have offered to buy the tie from me for up to $75.00...it must have been some "limited edition" or something along those lines...

Won't sell it...I'm planning on being buried with it on...

Did I mention that I look at the details a bit closer, now?

I have to say my four kids because otherwise I haven't gotten crap.

I am the world's greatest dad, though. I have the t-shirts to prove it!

My wife makes a calendar every year with all of the kids' pics in it for my office that I look forward to.

Having no children of my own, I feel the best gift I ever got was quite recent when my step daughter said to her mom, "I love him more than my own dad". There's no way to respond to that, but I do like to tell about it. The odd part is, I did nothing special to earn those words, except to be myself, show love and kindness.

Every day is a new day and I suspect this father's day will be better than the last.

Good question. Thanks!

I'd also have to say my daughter, who was born on 06/15...

...and every Father's Day is eclipsed with her birthday party! So I really never experienced what other dads enjoy on Father's Day...

That's not the half of it. My kid has a coin jar labeled "presents for Dad."

That's pretty nice, Michael. It's sad for your step daughter that her biological father is not a better dad. It's good that she has you there now, though. Sometimes step parents can completely change the outcome of a child's life. So, don't discount your influence.

Hey, I have one of those ties. No kidding! Black background right? Yellow, blue, orange tanks? Think I bought it at a mall kiosk about 10-12 years ago, when I got the first HD (91XLH) I only wear it once a year, to our HOG Chapter Christmas party.

Man, if they look like Easter eggs to you brother, run, don't walk, to the nearest optometrist.

In the meantime, enjoy those young'uns.

This will only be my 3rd Father's Day, but it will be the best so far since it's the first with both my kids. No wrapped gifts so far, but I am looking forward to some "home-made" gifts when they get a bit older.

I ask for nothing, I get nothing (two boys, 5 and 3). I already got enough stuff, so we just go to lunch together on that Sunday.
