I'd say the jury is out on that one. I'm not sure what a wagon buys you over a minivan other than mpg, handling and possibly ride... to the extent those are qualities of function and versatility.

Agreed, they're not for everyone.

Maybe I should restore a Willys wagon or a Travelall

Yeah, the Caravan killed the station wagon. I love having mine, but its a far cry from the domestic station wagons made during the same period. Look at an american made station wagon vs a euro wagon made in the early to mid-80's (prior to the caravan), and you'll see my point. Heck compared to a ford, gm, or chrysler wagon of the 80's, a minivan was an improvement.

I dunno...I would rather have had a Vista Cruiser , Chevy Caprice (Kingswood) or even an Buick wagon over a minvan. I LOVE fake wood trim

When I was growing up we had a 1975 Kingswood... Great car! It held the family PLUS plywood!

I still think wagons are the most verstile cars ever made. If yo can get a really high class one you have luxury plus the ability to haul stuff...

I was seriously looking at the Magnum R/T-- hubba hubba! A true successor to the Nomad even if it was from Mopar

Yeah, I thought the Magnum was a *****in'-looking wagon when it came out.

I'd kill for a 60's T'all! (My father had a red '66 4x4 when I was a kid.)

I've always been a wagonhead for no particular reason than it was different.

Wagons seem to be making a comeback, though. It's cyclical. Most of us who were comfortable enough with ourselves to become minivan owners did so out of necessity because there wasn't a wagon large enough to be a real option. We had an Escort wagon that we outgrew with kid #2. The Ford Flex looks interesting but otherwise there hasn't been a real alternative to a minivan. The Magnum is close but still a little on the cramped side with carseats and dogs thrown into the mix. Some of us want that 3rd row flip up seat, too!

Then you obviously didn't see these Swamp. Plenty of room.

If I could find myself a nice 60's airport limo I'd probably jump at it although I'm not sure the wife would oblige. There's be a lot less fighting and bickering if each kid had their own seat and you could alternate driver's side and passerger's side. I wanted a '59 Caddy Hearse but the wife said there's no way in hell she would ever drive it.

I love my wagon. Sooo versatile. One minute its a family hauler, with the ability to take 7 people in comfort. The next, its a junk mover, being able to take just as much stuff at the G Wagon.

Not to mention it looks cool, and handles well....

Your wagon is VERY cool and I would trade you if I didn't think you were getting such a short end of the stick. Did you ever get the Lorinser kit?

Hey ... why no pics of your wagon in the gallery?
