Nah I won't buy a BMW. My uncle just got a 2008 528XI or whatever they call it now. Cool car, kind of slow but not bad.

I'd buy an Audi or Jag before a BMW. I don't really care for the W220, I'd buy an A8 before one of them. Just looked at an 03 S430 actualy that a car dealer friend has on his lot. Pretty exterior, interior is just meh. I hate the way the center console looks. It doesn't flow, its almost pod like in a minivan.

The 535i is an I6 and has two turbos on it for good measure. That thing gets up and moves....

My friend is looking at buying a BMW. I have driven every model they have out for the 2008/2009 model years. The 7 series is still no match for the S-Class.

Yeah they are pretty fast, but they don't do much for me anymore.

Now with the free maintenace leases its like just a disposable rental car that you throw away after 36 months. Hard to get interested in something like that.

I drove the new M3. Thats a sweet car.... Problem is that they had a chipped 335i that was faster than the new M3.

Yeah my cousin kept wanting an M3, and almost replaced his 330CI with one. Than he wanted a Porsche, and nearly bought a Cayman, I think now he just said F it and is holding out for a Gallardo. That was back when houses were selling and they were building more. But the housing market is slow and unless he sells a **** load of them the lambo is quite a ways down the road.

The problem with the new M3 is that it gets horrible mileage and is so expensive, I can't imagine insurance is cheap!

So what is a new M3 going to cost you to drive per year? With a note, insurance and fuel, I bet damn near $20k, probably more if you figure in depreciation. Sure some of us can write that off, doesn't change the fact that it costs you money out of pocket though. I can't afford anything until I get out of school, and the housing market is just slow right now. No one has any money to spend on fancy cars, everyone has their cash tied up in property.

Anyone trying to write off $20K per year in automobile expenses

is in dire need of a consultation with his tax advisor!

Well on a car like that you would only be able to write off part of it, the part that if the IRS comes a hunting you can show was business related.

From a write off an business standpoint you'd probably be better off just leasing it.

But for older cars like mine I prefer going by the mileage. @ 50.5 cents per mile its pretty good on an old MB!
