That is just stupid. More bumper sticker politics, just what we need.
A reasoned discussion of some of these issues might be of benefit, but not with the jerks of this web site!

I wish I knew who I was voting for. That way I don't have to see who promises the least.

Not pumping your own is one thing - after all, nobody truly expects important people and celebs to grasp the same grimy nozzles as the hoi polloi {.....} But to have no clue as to how much gas currently costs? McCain went on to say, "I don't recall, and frankly, I don't see how it matters."

This man is running for president?

I filled up yesterday and I think I paid $4.69 per gallon for diesel, but I couldn't swear to that. It's just not a piece of information I feel the need to retain. I know that fuel has become expensive, so I try not to waste it, but knowing the price per gallon is not going to change my behavior.

If I was running for President (God forbid) and had drivers taking me everywhere I went, I wouldn't have a clue what the price per gallon was.

Everyone knows that gas prices are high and the economy is in trouble. Kinda like asking whether the sun rises in the east.

Knowing that any guess would probably be wrong since he won't hit it just right, I suppose. Not much of a judgment call there. Don't answer specifics, stick to generalities.

Sorry, you just lost my vote since you don't know the exact current price. I don't care about yesterday's price. What I want to know is what it is NOW.

You would know stuff like that because you learned from Bush I's not knowing about laser scanners.

Curiously, those scanners were not widespread out here in flyover country back then. So the whole brouhaha elicited a sort shrug. I don't recall who carried this state back then but I imagine it was Bill. He, like Jimmy, wuz one of us against those blue-blooded elitist northeast yankees.

I get your point and I don't expect him to know prices to the cent, but some general knowledge would be good. What's worrying is that he says he doesn't see how gas prices matter. Energy is the building block of our society, and the price of energy is one half of the equation that sets prices of everything else. Gas prices matter.

Here's 36 short personal stories on how high gas prices affect people. Maybe McCain should read this..

Drove by a station today, noted $8.54 for gas (95 octane) and $8.85 for diesel.
