Exxon Valdez?! Your age is showing. I named my Land Rover after that ship.

Nope...

The oil spill was in 1989, and as far as I know the lawsuit is still in litigation. Meaning: In nearly 20 years, all the people that lost their livelihoods have yet to see a penny from Exxon. The big corporation can tie things up for eternity.

Type in Nissan.com and you'll see another example. http://nissan.com/Lawsuit/The_Story.php

The case was just ruled on by the Supreme Court. They slashed the settlement to 1/5 of the original. Now it is at 500 million, that's worth about four days of Exxon's profits as of last quarter and gives an average of about $15,000 to each of the more than 32,000 plaintiffs — fishermen, cannery workers and Alaska natives.

Wow, I've created come interesting conversation here. Yes, after 4 repair attempts and the cold shoulder by Chrysler I do want out of the Jeep. I gave them many chances to fix the car and they never would/could make it right, and they were always rude to me when I called the custoemr service hotline. It is a matter of principle now, and I have other cars to drive (including of course a Mercedes hehe) in the meantime. To anyone going through the same thing, I tell ya, it ain't easy. It's been one monkey wrench after another.

Plus, I have already alerted several people with these cars with my postings on the web, so I probably have saved some lives because of my crusade, or at least kept people from getting into accidents because their CRD Jeep stalled. Several people have replaced these sensors on their own because of my ramblings. So yeah, I am going to stay the course, no matter how bumpy.

But back to the original point, please, if anybody out there can be my expert witness, PM me, or if you know of somebody that could. I will more than fairly compensate you for your expertise and time. And I am really not concerned about your location, I am sure we can work out the details somehow. Must be ASE certified Mercedes mechanic who has worked on the '07 and up CRD engines, preferably has replaced these crank position sensors before.

Sorry about taking it so far OT.

Good luck with your endeavor. I think you are going to need it to find the person you are looking for. Maybe a recently retired MB tech. I think anyone else with the knowledge you seek would be cutting their own neck off.

Are you an attorney? Thinking about a class action suit?

If it were still Daimlerchrysler, then I would agree with your statement, but since they split, I think there isn't a conflict of interest.

I would do it this way too-for your own safety .The world is full of dead/maimed people who stood up for principle. Murphy will ensure that you are rammed on your way to the court ordered solution. Good luck, and think positive !
