ebay will stick it to you, details inside

I just wanted to let anyone I can know that Ebay will screw you if they can.
I am in the process of arguing with them on this so it may turn out better but we shall see.
The story goes;
I got one of those emails they do every so often, where you can list a car for a $1 insertion fee. So, I have this truck to sell, and I'm thinking, cool, I'll do it for $1. I didn't know what the final fees would be but I knew they would be something. At any rate, now that it's over I looked into it and normally you would be charged a $40 insertion fee, and a $50 transaction fee, this is of course not including any extras such as a buy it now or a reserve, which I did not use. So to my great surprise I check my invoice and I was charged a whopping $109 transaction fee!!! So in summary they hook you in with the $1 fee and stick it to you with the jacked up trans fee.
I sent out quite a few emails to ebay and will let you know how this turns out but in the mean time I will tell every person I can not to use ebay for this blatant "sticking it to the little guy" tactic.

Use Cragislist next time. (but keep in mind Ebay owns 25% of Craigslist).

I'm completely frustrated with e-bay as well.

I wanted to send a message to an e-bay member who purchased an S-320 but didn't follow through and buy it.

But, e-bay now prevents one member from contacting another member unless there is a transactional relationship (seller or buyer).

I don't mind buying on eBay, but I don't trust their selling rules...I use Craigslist.

Were the terms of the promotion (including the transaction services fee) disclosed directly in the e-mail you received? If not, did the message provide a link to a page with the full details?

Was it a promotion like this one?

I'm still not clear: Were the terms of the promotion disclosed to you in the original e-mail? Or in a page to which that e-mail linked?

Were you trying to contact an eBay member who purchased (but didn't purchase) a car from yet another eBay member? Not from you?

OK, I'm confused. Didn't you read the terms of the promotion before participating?

Some deal. Get your foot in the door, and they rob you an extra 20% after all is said and done.

LOL "special prices".

No, I did not read the full disclosure, I knew there were fees at the end, if I remember right they used to be a percentage, but, I assumed (yes, my mistake) that the ending fees would be the same price they normally would be. Not jack up over twice what they usually are.

I want to be clear when I say this, 109 isn't going to make or break me, it's the principle of the matter where they get in you on this "deal" of just a $1 insertion fee and nail you with a $109 trans fee when it normally costs $50. It just irrates me that companies are this dishonest and this is why I am on a mission to make this known, and complain about it.

Sounds like there might be room for another online auction company besides Ebay.

While I might shop and buy on Ebay, I hesitate to sell anything through them. Their fees are way to high and combined with paypal, there outrageous.
