That's true! The power of the mind is a mysterious force.
If he thinks it makes him feel better, so be it. Who's to argue with him over feeling better? Or what causes it. Whatever works!

Is feeling better the way to gauge? Without knowing the root cause, you might be treating the symptom only and where does that get you?

Here is something that worked because I thought it worked. Or is it?
I had a old car that was problematic once in a while. This was a beater car in the winter I got in late fall. Sometimes, it would kinda buck and sputter like it had bad gas. It was winter so I suppose condensation could have built up. Dump in some gas dry and it is fixed. One day, on the way to Chicago, it acted up again. Well, the fix always worked. Pulled in to the gas station and bought some gas dry. Dropped one of the unopened cans under the car. What did I see? A bright red glowing thing. Hmmmm. Got home and cut it off and no problems. Seems like the gas dry was working because it would cool off by the time I got it and so it could go on.

Thats right if you spend anytime with chronic pain patients you will find that while most respond well to med's others respond to acupuncture, hot tubs, weed, petting their dog or whatever works. A friend of mine had bad pain in his right arm he went through every treatment in the book, they found via biofeedback that the problem was a nerve in his left hand...figure that one out, they think his wiring was screwed up or it was purely psychosomatic.

Doesn't matter, whatever the last treatment was that stopped the pain is the one that cured it whether its massage, a sugar pill, electrical neuro bombardment or drugs. There are people that can shut pain off via mind control of pain receptors figure that one out Yoda.

Never met anyone that could and do it consistently. So is it simply that they have a higher threshold? Don't know.

So if magnetic bracelets help a person with joint pain leave it at that, its non-invasive and as far as we know can do no harm. |

There is nothing in the human body that can be affected by weak magnets like those in bracelets. If there was then an MRI would cure almost everything, however, an MRI machine is 2,000-15,000 Gauss. Even if the bracelet uses neodymium magnet(s) it wouldn't have the strength of the weakest of MRI machines and the field wouldn't pass much further than the skin.
Magnetic bracelets work as a decorative piece of Jewelry but nothing else. |

You miss the point entirely, they don't work. If they think a placebo works then they are mistaken, its coincidence that the problem went away at that time or the problem wasn't real to start with.

You and I know it doesn't work but if they are stupid enough, you know that a fool and his money are soon parted. Why do we need to protect people from their stupidity? Like with a job, if you are incapable of handling the responsibilities, I will find someone else. Same here. If the clown is incapable of handling his money, let someone else do it.
