However, to see him pissed when I did something that he didn't like but could do nothing about, well, it more than makes up for the inconvenience. I guess it is all a question of what it is worth to someone.

Why? Do you see it as necessary to make those changes? I mean, what do you hope to achieve in doing so? More money, better hours, what? I changed from IT to doing an export business because I was unsure of the market direction and I had an opportunity there. In some ways, it sucks more than IT and in some ways it sucks less. Like I said, what are you after. I would NOT advise a change for change sake. I would advise you change if you have serious issues with the current job.

It all depends on you. If you have an addictive personality, you will get hooked easier than others. If not, you have to go very far to get hooked. It's not so simple to say that if prescribed Oxycontin for 3 weeks straight, you are going to get hooked.
