Actually, when I was in High School, the last class of my day was computers...

I left a note that siad if you install a software onto the computers, a computer is going to be wiped every night...

Well, when they installed the software, I followed through. Every night for about 2 weeks, a computer was wiped. (Put a CD in it, and booted it, as I was leaving for the day.)

The sotware didnt make it back onto the computer the third week, and no one knew it was me.

Not sure what your job is but it is bad policy to have the computer open and logged into the network all night long.

Our policy here simply states that we can't walk away from the computer and leave it unlocked. I always Ctrl/Alt/Del and Enter before walking away.

Speaking of which, anybody seen that new commercial with Jerry Seinfeld and Bill gates on it? What are they trying to advertise anyhow?

Windows Vienna? AKA Windows 7... May be a bit early for advertising that though since it's due out in 2010...

The folks in Redmond have shelved the Jerry & Bill campaign and replaced it with a not so subtle "I'm A PC" web spot.

After having a few mac, as well as a few windows machines at the same time, I do have to say that the mac thing being better is a little overhyped.

I have a macbook, but about 80% of the things that I need a computer to do, are windows based. Like when I need to fix problems with a database, or manage one of my servers.

Not to mention that I need office, and the mac office is fairly stripped down.

Recently they decided that the company laptops should be encrypted.
Well, ok, if your're in upper management, you might have some data on there that you don't want to get out - However, the hundreds of people that I work with, will never have anything remotely sensitive on their machines that requires encryption.
If I hear that there is an update coming, I can leave my laptop on for 4-5 hours and not a damn thing will happen....as soon as I try to do my time, or access a program/site for job plans, some update comes along and slows things to a crawl. Trying to initiate an update is about as productive as banging my head against a tree.
They seem to forget that not all of the employees in the company are connected to a LAN...some of us have to suffer with wireless dial-up.
