It is beyond sad and disgusting that this has happened, anyones life is worth more than that. To add on to this already awful situation the shoppers then would not leave when the police came. People disgust me

I can't say much for the two guys who shot each each other but I do feel for the guy who was trampled and was shocked to know that he was only 34.

If I had a store like that I would have all my employees armed with cookie sheets and rolling pins.

That is exactly how the local Best Buy (And walmart) did it when the PS3 first came out. People were camping outside the store in tents 3 days before the release. Calm, civilized and i'm sure the campers had some fun conversations while they waited. I heard them talking about getting out of line and not haveing to worry about someone taking their spot.

Everybody STFU.
It's not only the 2nd amendment. It is everything else. I hear of pedestrian rights but never a squeak about pedestrian responsibilities for instance. Everybody talks of rights but not responsibilities.

Apparently your notion is not shared by others that the story describes.

I don't know about you but on the back of my insurance card is a warning to the reader not to admit fault, etc, etc, etc. If Wal*Mart even squeaked a word that said they were responsible, there is the other part of the equation that will have all kinds of lawsuits going on. So, I think they did the right thing by washing their hands off the matter. "You think I am wrong, you come get me and prove it in court." Maybe you might think it is uncompassionate, wrong, yada, yada, yada but that is the world we live in today. It's all about me covering my butt since I am not sure that you won't be trying to stick something up me if I apologize, express too much sympathy, etc, etc.

So what was he doing opening the store? Seems walmart has quickly washed it's hands of this matter. "send a basket of fruit to the family" Not our fault, not our problem, not our employee.
For Walmart employee's are nothing but a dispossible line item expense. They are treated accordingly.

What's wrong with that? The employees are basically "gun for hire" people who will move on to anywhere that offers them a little more. They are not loyal to the organization and the organization doesn't give a rip about them. What of it?

Yep. Job is disposable and the employee is too. What I don't understand is why people have such a difficulty with that concept. Kinda like a hooker-John relationship. You owe him/or her nothing and he/she owes you nothing. You pay for the lay and she gets paid to lay you.

I cant believe people would go to extreme measures just to save $20 off an item...I think black Friday shows how uncivilized we can become when comes to saving...

This happens every year and also happens in other countries if you get a chance watch TSG's worlds dumbest shoppers you will see that it happens around the world, what does make most of us better than others is that sane people don't view the Walmart worker is insignificant or expendable.

Selfishness, greed, avarice, arrogance, covetousness, gluttony. All characteristics assigned and associated with the wealthy by the poor. All on fatal display by the relative poor in this case.

This is a sad commentary on our society.

We didn't become uncivilized. We have been uncivilized with a facade of civility. Today, it is saving $20. Tomorrow, something else will be the trigger. We simply have a barbarian inside us that is waiting to be unleashed.
