I was screwing with him.... But I have put together a dozen or so groups to set up franchises (usually more than one) in the last couple of years of various sorts and only one has failed. I got the bug on one that isn't food related (well, it has a restaurant inside that is independently owned) two years ago when one of the original subscription holders had to sell his interest and we are set to open in 90 days. |

You guys talking about In-N-Out, now that is great fast food. If anybody is on the West Coast you need to check out a In-N-Out.

The food industry has never really interested me. My aunts BF is trying to set up 10 Dunkin Doughnuts in NC. I don't think they are as profitable as he thinks they are, he is trying to get us to invest in them.
I have never seen a Sonic, much less eaten in one.

I like the super sonice breakfast burrito...fresh onions, jalapenos, tomatoes, and all that other good shtuff.
For a drink, I like cherry limeade. The fries are usually better than average as well. Haven't tried a lot of their menu...since they are about over 10 miles from home.

I see commercials for Sonic on TV all the time, which is strange, because I've never seen a Sonic in Southern California.
I've eaten at a Whataburger in Dallas once, and don't understand the phenomon. Whataburger doesn't come close to matching the qualilty of In-n-Out. Not a bad burger, but they serve taquitos. The last place I'm gonna order taquitos is at a hamburger joint. In-n-Out is the best fast food hamburger in the country. And their fries are excellent. They make them from fresh potatoes right in the restaurant in front of you. They wash them, peel them, and them put them through a hand operator slicer. From Wikipedia: In-N-Out Burger is a privately owned and operated fast food restaurant chain in the Western United States. Founded in 1948 and headquartered in Irvine, California, In-N-Out Burger has since expanded to Arizona and Nevada, and has announced plans to build in southern Utah, though no timetable has yet been offered. The restaurant chain has developed a loyal customer base by maintaining a simple menu of high-quality hamburgers and french fries made to order with fresh ingredients. It is one of the few fast-food chains in the United States to pay its employees significantly more than federal and state mandated minimum wages. The In-N-Out model is in stark contrast to its traditional rival, McDonald's (which began at about the same time in nearby San Bernardino). This is reflected in In-N-Out advertising, which focuses on the food, compared to McDonalds' ads which promote the "experience." Other major competitors include Carl's Jr., Burger King, Dairy Queen and A&W, but none have inspired the customer loyalty of In-N-Out. All locations are company-owned. The privately owned corporation does not currently plan to franchise or to take the company public. Due to relatively few locations (compared to other fast food chains), a business model where the food is made to order (rather than precooked then reheated), and the high quality -- and popularity -- of the food, the drive-through and in-store lines can be long. A wait 15 minutes or longer is sometimes common to receive one's order. However, the wait time is often due to the length of the line more than the preparation time for the burgers.

Large unsweet ice tea...every day. Half price drinks from 2-4, making the tea .90 cents. Since they opened a year ago, that means I've spent over $200 on Sonic tea. There was a time I would have looked at that and thought, "I should have invested that money and had water" since I would compute what that $200 might look like in 10 years. Now, knowing what my other investments look like, I just say to hell with it...enjoy the tea.

The only one I know of around here is in Tracy CA. I drive past it frequently while on my way to Tahoe or Reno. Never bothered to stop.
