Need Help Finding Hardware Online

OK, the monkey who previously owned my house did some pretty odd things, but i've fixed most of them.

My latest hang up is a light switch cover. No one has been able to help me locally so I'm going online.

The guy who owned my house installed (in 2 places in the house) double wide electrical boxes, and installed only one switch. Its kinda odd, but the problem is, no one at any of the hardware stores have been able to tell me where i can get a cover that is double wide, but with a cut out for only one switch.

The ones i've found online are all "theme" covers, and not the right kinda anyway.

Anyone here have any ideas? any place that sells these online?

I didn't think this would be that odd of a part.

I have never seen a switchplate like that but I had the same issue in my old house. I used a double switch plate and installed a switch on the "dummy" side that did nothing.

This place has close to what you want, they have "build your own" snap together plates.

I thought about a dummy switch. I also thought of installing a plug, even thought it would be pointless to have a plug at the top of the stairs

those snap together ones look like the best bet yet.

Snap togethers are ugly, call any electrical shop or ebay and ask for Switch-Blank

well thanks to 865sp300e's links I narrowed my search down and was able to find some. I want white. I re-painted all my walls white, and installed all white covers through out the house. but the covers i've founts are not white

I found white ones for $0.58 each. Not bad, plus shipping.... how much do you think that would be. for 2 covers??????

If you guessed $16 then you are right.

DAMN

but, surprisingly Amazon.com has a link to some. a pack of 5 (almond... ) for $1.30 plus $7.95 for shipping.

so for around $2 a cover i can get almond. or pay $18 for 2 white covers.

Well that is a weird plate.

Something I did around our house.
First all of the switches are the Leviton big paddle switches.

This initially occurred kind of by accident, I just put some spare plates up while remodeling, until I could run off and get new ones.

White switches, almond plates. Produces a real nice effect.

So now, where I have white switches, I have Almond plates.
Where I have Almond switches, I have white plates.

I'd have gotten a blank double wide cover then precision cut the hole for the switch with a dremel. Cost: 40 cents, time: 10 mins.

Or I'd have installed an outlet, good place to plug in a night light or something....who knows.
