I think you misunderstand my point. I realize that senators don't get presidential security briefings. However I really don't think you needed presidential security briefings to realize who was held at Gitmo.

Thus my question is, just how stupid do you have to be to think that you can just empty Gitmo and all will be well? Were they really that stupid to simply swallow liberal propaganda that the folks in there were just poor unfortunates who happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time? I find that hard to believe. But if so then the level of stupidity they evince does not bode well for the future.

If Obama thought that then it would be empty by now. I believe the plan is to have it empty by next year.

Then if they actually need for another year what's the point in shooting your mouth off about closing it? Either you need it or you don't. This simply brings us back to the starting point.

I don't know whether you intended that to be in response to something somebody said, but I know that Obama hasn't said anything remotely like that. Where did you get such an idea?

The only thing Obama has stopped so far is the trial of Canadian Omar Khadr.

One good thing in this is this quote:
"Mr. Obama left himself a loophole to deal with some cases. Those too dangerous to be released or transferred and who cannot be put on trial, might be kept in prison, depending on the advice of a high-level panel ordered to examine options, Mr. Obama said."

From his statements that he will close the camp within a year. What the hell is he going to do within that time period? Send them home? I saw one report indicating they might be sent back to their home countries. In other words returned to the fight against the US. I find it hard to believe that he could be that stupid, but then again, if not in Guantanamo then where?

I don't understand why closing Gitmo means that dangerous prisoners will be set free. If there is a reason to hold a particular prisoner and the legal grounds to do it, then I don't see why you think Obama would allow that prisoner to be released.

The difference between a "concept" and a war is that people die in war. Osama Bin Laden declared war on us in the 1990's though hardly a politician in DC noticed.

The remainder of what you said is .... interesting.

When you get back from rhetorical Nirvana let me know and we can continue discussion.

Nor did the military. Several people convicted of criminal misconduct mistreated prisoners. They're doing hard time.

With that logic a campaign promise has never been broken.

Once again. If not there then where? If you assume you have to keep them somewhere then why not there? What's the point of closing it other than to keep a campaign promise? If that's the only reason to close it then it appears he's putting politics above security. Stupid!

Depends on what the definition of "is" is.
