Car without windsheild

can you drive a car without a windsheild legally?

I was told by a chrysler dealer that i could with goggles on but it doesnt sound right to me.

I want to avoid to burn a AAA tow on something like getting a new windsheild put in.

I was wondering that same question myself. I have to drive my 300TD to the glass shop tomorrow with two huge smashes in the windshield.
You'd think it'd be hard to enforce a law forbidding driving a car without a windshield when a motorcyclist rides by.

I would think that most state laws require the presence of an intact windshield on a licensed car or truck. Another point is that a bonded windshield acts as a structural enhancement in most cars so equipped. Not a good idea to roll over in a such a car.

As for your local friendly Chrysler dealer's advice? Well, maybe Chrysler going under isn't such a bad idea after all...

A guy I knew in HS had a Jeep with no windshield. He drove it every day that way just wearing a pair of motorcycle goggles.

How far do you have to drive? It's a bit chilly this time of year.

They slap noise violations on ricers' exhausts as Harleys drive by, so I don't think logic is required to write citations.

Sigh I cant.

Sec. 14-99f. Windshield. Obstruction of view. (a) Each motor vehicle shall be equipped with a windshield of a type prescribed by section 14-100 and a windshield cleaner or wiper in effective working order located directly in front of the operator while in use on the highway. The windshield shall be reasonably free of defects and accumulations, inside and out, of snow, ice, condensation and dirt. The provisions of this subsection shall not apply to a motorcycle or a vehicle designed by the manufacturer for nonhighway operation without a windshield.

So much for the chrysler dealer....

Why does your windshield have two smashed places?
