I would rather buy the whole crap banking system, then just the bad "toxic" loans.

If we nationalize the banks, there will be no more systemic risk to the rest of the market.

Why just give them free money ? We have no chance of recouping any losses that way.
We allready know it does not make them start lending.

Nationalized banks can refinance home loans across the board.
The national government will absorb the pressure of the housing bubble burst.
Every home loan can be readjusted to the current market values, with the stroke of a pen.
Foreclosures stop.
Nationalized banks loan money to industry, and people go back to work.

The banks can invest in green technology, and green energy.
One of the few things left that we can do that will save us money, and something that we can export to pay off our national debt to the world.
