Those 80s Escorts were actually good little cars... especially for American cars. Not sure about those 90s models... I know the early 90s models had some transmission woes.

My aunt had a 1987 Ford Escort hatchback that she bought new and that car went through the ringer and kept going until she sold it. I actually know a lady at work that still has a 1987 Ford Escort wagon and a guy down the road has a 1987 Escort wagon.

My grandpa recently bought a 1993 Mercury Tracer (Ford Escort) wagon..... he needed a smaller car with room and this was only $250, so not a bad deal. Its a nice car... 1-owner, garaged... too good of a deal not to pass up.

Yeah, I think hers was FI. I think FI was standard by 1986 on these and I think it was on an optional engine starting in 84'. There was also a diesel version with a whopping 52 hp available from 1984-1987. I have seen a couple, but they are rare.

This is one like my aunt had, except hers was red with gray interior... this one is also a 1987...

Here is one of the really early ones... this was the 1982-85 model...

Can this guy come and torch my roommate's 2003 Hyundai Santa Fe?

It pains me to see that car in my driveway every day. Its just hideous, already rusting on the rear quarter, leather tearing, and leak more oil than either of my Diesels. I even offered to help her sell the sante fe and find her something else; nope, she likes her car.
