Tracking device in that crevice employed by Mercedes back then.....Used today by the govn't to track people. A group of rogue agents disabled the device by hitting the correct area with a small metal bat.

Anybody else?

Possibly a predesigned spot to start the crumple zone in a rear impact.

I caught myself looking at those this morning to see if any that passed me had a dent there. Didn't see any, but I wasn't out that long, either . . .

The quarter panel dents are from the structure deforming due to the rear hit. I'll bet if you pop hte bumper cover off, there's a mess going on in the rear of the black AMG and the nasty gold car. Betcha the bumper sprung back and the rear structure didn't.

I'VE GOT IT!!!

It's a "guy's" version of a woman finding a gray hair!!!

Your car's first wrinkle!

A little bondo and some "cover up" paint and no one's the wiser!!!

That is truly creepy. I wonder if the bumper gets "bumped" at a low speed if it begins a crumple or crease in that spot.....that's the only explanation I can think of since all the cars have it in the same spot.

Thankfully my W124 has avoided this "mark" so far!
