husky- where are your friends living now? i too grew up in Miami when you didn't have to lock the doors and you could sleep with the windows open without a problem. It seems to have gotten worse with the increase in drug use/selling. Not to unlike the Mobsters during Prohibition but even then they had a code of honor you followed and none of this Wild West shooting up on the streets business.

Dominican republic. they say every time they come back to the states they are shocked at how fast we are sinking. I'm no Michael Moore fan but in his film, "Sicko" he chronicles quite a few Americans who LEFT for GOOD. I've heard that when O was elected some of those with sufficient $$$$$ took their money and hit the road. this does not present a good picture to the rest of the world. Illegal aliens moving in, citizens moving out. the neighborhood is going to the dogs.......

All of those are harder than bringing a gun to class. But I'd guess bombs would become the weapon of choice if the public had no guns.

I've heard just the opposite. Some of those who've been away from the country are returning now that Obama is the President.

In Sicko, the Americans they interviewed living in France really liked the "nanny" government and the health care there.

If typical distance is under 200yds, then the 7.62 brings more to the table. When the distance is greater, how many guys can utilize the greater reach of the .223? Most people I know get real spread out with their groupings, even at 200yds, let alone over (they are not military guys). What training is the military giving our troops? Do they practice long range shooting with the .223

My point is, in house to house combat, I would much rather have the 7.62x39 over the 5.56x45

one note, correct me if I am mistaken, but I have been using .223 and 5.56 interchangeably.

Ahh the old round debate. I actualy like smaller rounds, I really like the .30 carbine round.

My thoughts are this, any bullit will do the job as long as you hit them. Something like an M16 is pretty easy to control when your firing fast, as opposed to say a 14, or SKS. You can empty a clip fast and have the rounds land pretty much where you want them. From my experiance...

The argument usualy is the larger rounds have more knockdown power, and they do. But the lighter rounds are so easy to shoot, double tap them. IMHO within 100 yards its a mute point, any bullit will kill you, so I rather have a small very fast round and carry a lot of them.

So insted of an M14 and .45, give me a P90 and Sig 226. The P90 is very compact and I can carry 50 rounds in the mag.

Excellent reason for them to adopt Europe as their new homeland. I encourage all like-minded people to do the same. There is no reason they should burden themselves with living in this backward, benighted land.

I don't have any hard facts as to the number of U.S. citizens that have decided to leave. one thing for sure, a heck of a lot of BUSINESS has crossed the borders and are making everything under the sun and then selling it back to US! they kinda get their cake and eat it too, don't they? Cheap labor, maintain high retail pricing in the United States, what a deal!

a few years ago Wrangler Jeans shut down their North Carolina plants and moved to Mexico. people who had worked at the Wrangler plants for over twenty years lost their jobs. their advertisements still show the "All American Cowboy" on his horse wearing his Wrangler Jeans. only now he speaks spanish.

Wal-Mart couldn't exist without China. perhaps those that are leaving are going to run the foreign manufacturing plants so that we can buy up all that foreign made stuff. the system is working.

The State of Virginia did not apply the federal law regarding mental capacity for owning a firearm. Cho should not have been allowed to purchase the weapons. Because he was released to outpatient care after being placed in custody as a danger to himself and others, the state did not realize that he should have been ineligible. Simple misunderstanding of the law that was partially to blame for the deaths at V. Tech.

Yes, this kind of incident can happen again, but if the laws are understood and applied correctly, maybe it will help avert even one.

Gun dealer will know when running the background check, IF the state properly lists those who have been adjudicated as unfit.

I seldom lock my house, and never lock my car in the driveway. But, I also know and speak with all of my neighbors, and don't live in an urban area.
