I've driven a CRV, and it is a Toaster! Its amazing people guy that junk. I feel safer in any of my 25+ year old cars.

Sad to think that my Tercel is the Great Grandmother to the Rav-4

I've owned a couple Tercel 4X4 wagons to, another fine automobile.

No match for my SD (until it snows), but certainly a pretty well engineered 'cheap' car.

My forays into the world of cheap (by original MSRP) cars have been limited to a '63 Dodge Dart into which I shoehorned a 360 V-8. In normal driving it drove a lot like a W114. If you started driving hard, you noticed very quickly that it sped up a whole lot faster and slowed down a whole lot slower. I also had an '88 Suzuki Samurai for about a year. It was slower on top end than my 240D, but was a blast off pavement.

I've been saddled with various new and newish rental cars and haven't really liked any of them. The least bad was a Nissan. I think it was an Altima.

I love my Tercel, I find a lot of Tercel people love Mercedes Diesels, and a lot of Diesel people love the little Tercels! I'm not sure how they are related other they are both a lot more dependable they anyone would ever dare to fathom.

If I could somehow make my SD 4x4 and drive like the tercel in the snow I would I think I would own the best car on the planet! Until then I'll just drive them both.

My little Tercel wagons would go through snow that many a 4x4 truck couldn't handle. In fact I used to use one as a snowplow, it was low enough to move the deep stuff off of the driveway during the real big storms. Once the snow got up to about 18~20" I would take the Tercel up and down the 1.3 mile driveway as fast as I could, to keep it kinda clear. Loads o' fun

Ya know, they do sorta look like a toaster.
