You're g*ddam right the employees are owed something by their employer. Just like their employer is owed something by the employee. It's not a one way street.
When the employer pulls something like this, that's when you don't owe them your best effort, only the effort commensurate with their attitude.

my two cents

Fulcrum, living well is the best revenge.

If EVERYONE's pay is cut, and that's why everyone is still working, then that might be the only way currently for the company to survive.

I'll agree that it sucks they didn't tell you, but that's just bad management on any level and it happens all the time. By itself, not a reason to quit.

Personally, in your shoes, I would look for another job and just be very low key about it, doing your work even better than most. Be noticed as slightly better than average, and when you quit, it might sirprise them to the point that they find a way to re-establish your original income level. If they don't, well you have the new job. If they do, you have the option to stay AND you can tell them that their poor communication and management made your personal financial planning too unpredicatble and you needed stability for your personal plans. Then thank them and wish them good luck.

Because no one EVER does this, they will think you're a gentleman and not realize that you put one over on them.

you will have the last laugh and they won't even know....

So hurry up and find another job and start the fun at their expense...

Ok I just came inside after taking care of a swarm of bee's and I had some time to think about all of this.

To sum up, i'm no longer pissed about the entire episode. Basically it comes down to tough times requiring tough decisions. I also realize that no one there is capable of doing my job and that the owner knows that i'm a "team player" with everything so probably didn't see the need to tell me. The main reason why our payroll suddenly shot up is we took a whole bunch of "The jackasses" former employees into our company. So in order for everyone to still have jobs, we all need to take a hit until revenues increase. (More news on that should be coming in the next few weeks) I just freaked out because every time in my life when it looks like things are finally starting to shape up I get hit with something. I'll go into work tomorow and work my butt off like I always do to ensure that everyone gets a paycheck and that I get paid back whats owed to me.

Thats not very nice, they could have at least told you. Doesn't seem very team spirited to me.

Proved what? That because you are a team player there is no need to inform you of negative things that he has instituted? What happened to common courtesy? If I was firing you, I'd have the stones to tell you outright and not send you some chicken**** letter that hits your house on Sat.

Again, what's your point? That you are not owed the simple courtesy of being told about it and discovering it on your own? How is that professional or polite?

It isn't. Welcome to my daily life and how people have almost always treated me.

You need a better class of associates. That people do that to you makes me wonder what they think of you. That is the sort of treatment I reserve only for those who have been bad to me. IF they treat you like that, what respect do you think that they have for you?
