Garage door opener question

I have extremely bright sunlight at certain times that causes the door sensors on my garage to not allow the door to go down. I have heard you can't just disconnect the sensors from the motor. I am wondering do the sensors close a circuit, or open a circuit when triggered? I suppose I could tape them together, but if I can hot wire it, that would be easier.

thanks
Fred

You can't hot wire it on any that I've seen. You do have to tape the sensors together to defeat them; the receiver sends a digital signal to the motor unit.

Try swapping the two sensors, so the sunlight hits the other side. Swap the wire pairs at the motor unit too.

I might try cleaning the sensors, and then experimenting with the core from a roll of TP or paper towels, in order to make a hood/ keep sunlight from hitting the sensors directly.

That, or hit the classifieds and look for a new house

Cleaning the sensors has worked for me. Sometimes a build-up of dust, a dead insect, or a spider web has prevented the door from working.

You can disable them by putting the sensors somewhere else in the garage and mounting them right next to each other.

Forgot to mention, this happens both at night and morning, so one or the other sensor is under the glare....

The hood ideas sound promising.
