PSP - The official aircraft recovery mat of Alaska.

Can even make a rocky slope flat enough to drag a float plane up.

Don’t ask how I know about that. Long story…

BTW, Randy – I know John and Darby regret not making the open house. They did talk about it. But unfortunately had to head north to Tofino BC that week for a previous engagement.
Personally – I don’t think they are coming back anytime soon.

The offer to visit is open in perpetuity. Give me some notice (+4hrs) and there will be ribs too.

Roger that.

This might just be weird, but....
You wouldn’t by chance be related to the “3242 Liberty” waypoint that somehow has been programmed into my 407s GPS, would you ?
It has an alert marker/tag of: HTPL. Which is: High Tension Power Lines.
Any of that ring a bell?

That sounds like us. We're 1/8mi south of Liberty on FM 3242. The property is bisected with HTPL. Probably in there because of an earlier similar invite.

Land that 407 here and it better have a fine particulate filter on the intake; you can't hardly swing a dead cat out here without making a dust cloud big enough to hide a barn.

Been there – Done that.
Nasty stuff, dust is.
It’s not so bad on the engine as one might think. But it gets into just about everywhere else and is a real bugger to clean/blow out. A/C and avionics cooling inlets... Pitot/Static ports… Nasty.

The worst thing I’ve done was to drop into a feed corn field just after the combines went through. It was about a foot deep in shucks and stalks. I can honestly tell you that I know exactly what it would be like to be under a Bush-Hog while it was running over a brush pile. Wicked nasty. Took the paint right off the rotors. The tail rotor was making a real mess out of things. Packed the inlet screens. And OMG, the noise was indescribable !!

I learned about flying from that...
