Wish I had known him. Being at the wheel of a square rigger has been one of the highlights of my life. My condolences.

Randy, I send my condolences, and my father sends his condolences as well. I remember we first met him at the Houston GTG in 04 and saw him again at the Texas GTG in 06. I remember he gave me a little tip should I ever find myself ever needing to count cattle. Just count up all of the legs and divide by four. I will never forget that.

Fellow MBZers

We're having a celebration of life/memorial for Dad, Saturday the 7th at 4:30pm at the Texas Seaport Museum in Galveston.

I'd love to see any of you that can make it.

Hopefully he died well. I know that if the wife were attending him he would since most of her patients died well with minimal fuss and little discomfort.

Some people die well. By that I mean that their passing is rather painless. They are looked after till the end. That or they die before they know it. Like a friend's mother. She was fine, went to the bathroom then collapsed and was dead before she hit the floor.

There are some that are not as fortunate. They struggle to breath or are in pain before they die.

When death is imminent, the wife usually adjusts the meds to give maximum comfort. Say if you are struggling to breath, she might prescribe oxygen to ease the breathing and other meds to slow breathing down so as not to make you gasp for breath. Not sure exactly what she does but from what I am told, it makes the passing easier. Easier is better.

Out of your words it seems he was a great guy someone who I would have loved to have met and having a whiskey coke with on his porch and listen to his stories. Cheers on a life well lived, my thoughts are with you and your family.

Although its redudndant, my sincerest condolences. At least for me, losing my father was tough, although it took a year for me to finally deal with it emotionally.

Your eulogy speaks volums of the relationship you had with him. Pass that on to your children and will do well.
