I was talking to a roll-off truck driver. I asked him what was the weirdest thing he'd ever seen thrown out. He said it had to be the FIFTEEN loads of "stuff" he removed from a hoarder's house once the guy died and his kids had to clean up the mess. The whole thing seems completely pointless.

Go to Corbis.com and search for photos of the Collyer Brothers. That's an interesting collection of photographs!

It is rather pointless, but it is a function of OCD. If you think about it, all the outward displays of OCD are rather pointless but are simply the way people's minds work sometimes.

Things (inanimate objects) are one thing...

It's when the OCD starts collecting cats/dogs or "finds" animals and brings them home!

I'm NOT GOING THERE!!!!

Yep, wife's aunt does that. Lets just say I get an allergic reaction if I have to spend any time at her apartment. Too much CAT.

I thought my mother was bad...

While she was in Wisconsin this spring I cleaned out her house. It took three 30cuyd dumpsters to get her place into a semblance of order. The worst part is now she calls me with "I can't find X ", where X is some POS that has been lying around since 1979 collecting dust, I go "It is gone" and she freaks out...

Last week it was drama over a curling iron that had not been touched since 1985 (she has short hair!) I actually had to go over and buy her a new one at Target just to shut her up!

I guess I should have taken all her ***** and turned it into an exhibit

I too am guilty of 'collecting' things. I guess it is a good thing I move so often that I need to throw all my stuff away every year or so...

I went to see an old guy an hour's drive away 2 years ago who was selling his house an moving into assisted living housing. He was selling a 1960 Citroen DS19 (and I already had a rusty one at that point) . He had a garage/barn that held this DS19 and 3 or 4 Citroen SMs. Well, you could not even see the SMs - they were completely covered above the rooflines with junk ( big stuff like tractor parts, heads , engine blocks). He must have carved the DS out of the same mess for viewing, but I still could only open one door and stick my head in. I couldn't walk around it or look under it. I had the impression that the car I was looking at was very sound and he only wanted $500-$1000 for it, but I had a foreboding feeling that if I bought that car , I would turn into the packrat he was.

I'm NOT GOING THERE!!!!

Last Christmas I did...

I had a date with this girl who asked me to come to her next door neighbor's house to feed the dogs while the neighbor was gone from there on vacation.

OMG there were 28 dogs in there!!!

Plus a bunch of cats.

And a turtle.

And an aqarium with gold fish.

Oh man was I glad to get out of there.

I think she said it probably violated some San Jose CA. zoning law of some kind.....

The neighbor lived alone by herself.

I was thinking of getting into hoarding at one time. Eventually, I decided to go into whoring instead . . .

Darling Wife read the article Mistress posted. And she cried. Then she read some of the links, watched some of the videos, and she cried some more.

Then she watched this trailer: My Mother's Garden

And she bawled. So much like Ma's family, so much (though thankfully to a lesser degree) like Ma.
