Try imaging 65 of them without optical drives. It was a nightmare since I only had 3 USB drives capable to run Ghost off of.

Ugh.
Newegg sells a cheap USB to IDE/mini-ide/SATA adapter cord for like $15....lets you use any old internal hard drive or optical drive on the cheap. You could buy 6-7 of those for the price of a good external hard drive.

You could have also bought several 4-8 gig flash drives and done it that way....

I do image over a network. The problem is Ghost crashes when I remove the USB drive.

I could have bought 50 USB drives on ebay for cheap, but see that would have made sense

Try checking "woot.com" occasionally, they have some awesome deals on those mini laptops, I remember seeing a an acer mini laptop for 150$....plus 5$ shipping.

On woot, they're normally refurbished but i mean still, I'd go for it. The only problem with those is they have no CD-Rom drives, but most people could care less. meh

A work around for the "no optical drive" when you have a desktop or other computer is to make the optical drive shared over a home network . . . usb drives . . . SD card . . . or just either buy an external USB 2.0 powered drive (or build it yourself with an external case for $20 and a used laptop 50pin optical drive).

No such thing as an Acer Asus One. I think you mean the Acer One.
