True. Thats what I've read about when you drive in deep snow. When the snow gets up to the axles you run the risk of the weight being supported by the axles and not the wheels thus you loose traction.

Not necessarily. My dozer has swamp pads and you can run it through stuff that you can't walk over. But, I'm not sure if it can walk on water.
