I have Verizon, but a friend of mine does...appears to be very slick.

Btw, he bought the premium plan, so I suspect that contributes to all of the features he enjoys.

We have it. For the most part I like it. It's nice to be able to record 4 shows at once. The quality (we don;t have HD yet) is very good and I have no complaints. If you get the internet service as well, you can control the DVR from the phone, see pictures loaded onto a photo site on your TV.

The secondary boxs (the one in our bedroom) cannot pause FF or reverse live TV. They can view recorded shows from the main box and on recorded shows is can pause, FF and review but not on live (that's the only beef I have with U-verse. I was told they are working on a software/hardware fix but no ETA.

We've had it for 2 years now and are more pleased with it than displeased. HD quality is good and we do have the internet with it. The cable and internet run through the same router, which is wifi capable. You have one main box which has all of the features and any number of secondary boxes which has most but not all (like David was saying, currently no pause, stop, FF or RR).

Every few months they seem to update the system to take care of the bugs. We did run into issues early on such as a box freezing or losing the sound feed and the recourse was to do the alternative of a Ctrl-Alt-Del (they are just little computers afterall), but those have been resolved through software updates that are done automatically by AT&T. We do run into situations where there are too many shows being recorded that other boxes get interrupted. Initially you could only watch recorded shows on the other boxes, now you can erase them after watching them (not a big deal but more convenient).

U-verse is essentially high speed DSL (short range to DSLAM in neighborhood)....and TV over IP technology....combined with DVRs. Everything happens over a phone line pair.

HA. I knew I was not loosing my mind. My wife wanted to delete a show from the bed room and I told her she could not do it. She proceeded to do it any way. I had tried it when we got it and could not so I never tried again. She said I was nuts.

I only learned it by mistake. I was catching up on some recorded episodes up in the combo playroom/bedroom for our two youngest sons, trying to get my 6yo to sleep, when lo and behold the erase episode option appeared!

We had a number of recorded shows get bumped ("as space permits") because I would often forget to erase the programs when I got back downstairs to the main tv. Once again, not a big deal, but a convenience and just "making it a little better."

In my neighborhood there is only 1 HD signal, so if I record a HD channel, I can't watch or record another HD channel. One HD task is like 2 regular tasks. Not all locations are like mine, if I had 2 HD TV's, I would be screwed. Other than that UVerse is great.

I do have one beef, it does not pick up all shows when I say to record all instances of a program. Only some. They claim they buy the program guides from a 3rd party and its not their fault. This only happens on cable channels like Discovery, and DIY network. No problem with first run shows on regular channels.

Can you record 4 shows at once while watching 1 live show.

Never had that many recording at once but my understanding is that if you are recording 4 shows at once, you must be watching one of the shows you are recording or a show that you have already recorded. Since there are only 4 tuners, watching a 5ht show would be impossible.

I do not have HD yet so I am not to sure as it did not pertain to me at the time but IIRC, you can only get HD on the main box, the secondary boxes will only receive SD signal. So if you are planning on getting U-Verse, verify that if you have more than one HD TV.
