As soon as the semester is over I'll get going on a business plan, gaining as many contacts in the business I can, and hopefully start at it in the summer. I need to focus on finishing school first, and the peace of mind with option 1 is what I'm going to go with, but I may compromise. There are plenty of great sub-10k sports cars out there that I can look for, but for now I'll just get the truck and get through this semester.

Dude, use the money to start your business. That is the ticket to owning anything you want later.

That would be funny, but no. The truck would be much cheaper to run.
I've closed the deal on the blue Dakota and should get it this weekend. http://www.autotrader.com/dealers/inview/detail.jsp?ct=u&car_id=267901584&dealer_id=57324497&car_year=2001&dealership_view_name=www.dmusedcars.com&sort_type=make_modelASC&cardist=6615 They wouldn't come off as much on the price as I would like, but it was a good deal to begin with. Even with the 7k tow rating, I'm probably going to stiffen up the rear leaf springs so I don't have the nose up in the air while towing, as well as upgrade the brakes. I'm really looking forward to having my old truck back; perhaps I should scan in some photos of me at 15 getting the first one. 240HP 4.7 liter V8, shift on the fly 4x4, front and rear bench, infinity CD and sound, sport appearance and suspension package. I also came across a potential bargain 190e Cosworth that I may look at in the near future as well.

Yeah.
I was just surprised because in April when I bought mine retail was about $10k, now its $1k-$2k more than that. One local dealer was asking $13k for a truck like mine with a bit more miles and sold it! ![]() Seems like for once my timing was perfect.

![]() *edit, keep in mind that NADA clickable value does not include all the options this truck has... V8, 4x4, power everything, etc, that drives up the price quite a bit.

I remember when my dad considered keeping the Dakota after I got the X5, and keeping it at the lake house. He couldn't have signed it over faster when the dealer offered 18k for trade in back in 2005. It was an identical truck to this only black, and only 35k on it.
The truck was $27995 new, and I believe with rebates it sold new for less than 25k. I haven't been this excited about a car since, well... since buying the E500, or maybe the 6.9.

Oh its a nice truck, the only problem with it is that its a Dodge.
![]() My friend's 2001 Dodge Ram is doing pretty good for a Dodge though, he is at 100k miles and its only on its 2nd engine and transmission. I think thats pretty good my uncles rack body Dodge 3500 only got 30k miles out of the original motor.

No, these are the good ones with the Jeep 4.7l V8 drive train. I wouldn't touch any other Chrysler product than the Jeep inline 6.
Worst case scenario, EVERYTHING is cheap to replace.

) (i'm assuming ingrid is still part of the stable?)

Wow, very close call.
Got the paperwork today, and saw that they attempted to marker out the names of the previous owner, probably to protect their identity. I could still make out the names, so I looked them up, and gave them a call. Wow... The previous owner told me he traded it in for cash for clunkers because his wife had badly overheated the engine and after repairing the issue it was obvious the motor was toast. When I called to speak directly to the owner with that little nugget of information, he passed me off to his number two, who explained that he had replaced the motor with a 90,000 junk yard motor. ![]() I gave him a good ass chewing, and he kept saying that he didn't do anything deceptive. Yeah right... I had a bad feeling about this one. The search continues...

Ahh so someone figured out how to game the cash for clunkers system. You should call him into the government.
Oh well, go search yourself out a nice F150 or Silverado. Tundra's are pretty nice too.

Good luck with the truck hunt - Stick with the sensible option and save your cash for a nuclear powered electric flying car of the future!

Dodge 2500 with a Cummins engine. I know where there is one with a rebuilt transmission, AirDog 100, a new vp44 injection pump, and chipped for mileage. New tires in March of this year.
It averages about 19mpg around town; about 24 on the interstate doing under 70mph. If you can find a long enough chain, it can pull down any house in Wichita. Let me know if you are interested.
