Either they can't afford better, or are such non-car-guys they don't care. Not encouraging either way.
My friend threw a set of Falken tires on his S320 right before he traded it in. Why put good tires on a car you know you will be getting rid of soon? Most people don't care as long as their is tread on them.

Vented seats do work pretty well for that, but not nearly as good a sheepskins.

Would any of you dignify this guy's request and provide that kind of information in order to have the opportunity to purchase his precious car?

I wouldn't do it (not that I make that kind of dough) short of him offering to sell it at a fraction of the going rate.

My guess is anybody who makes that kind of money would rather buy a new one than deal with this clown.

Since when do you need $300,000 a year to buy a S Class. Especially a 2007 that is now 2 years of age. I have purchased cars for about the same price as that persons S Class and I was not clearing $300,000. The buyer needs to move on and buy from someone who is not noisy.

My thought: This person lives in some sort of "gated community" and if you're not on some "social register," or you're one penny shy of $300K, you're not even getting past the guard house to look at his "baby."

If he has that much of an inflated opinion about who he wants to have the car, I'm sure his asking price is right about up there with his opinion about himself, too.

Too much self-love can be a lonely thing.

Apparently the sale price is so high that a purchase money mortgage is required.

I think hes trying to put things in perspective. the car cost nearly 100 grand and it a takes a good solid economy to properly maintain vehicle. Someone who makes 100K a year normally isnt driving a S550. Someone who is making 200k to 300k a year can properly maintain it. But I imagine things to go like this. He wont find anyone or get impatient and sell to the person who gives the most.

I'm pretty sure a person making 50 grand a year could afford to maintain an S550 if it was the only thing they blew money on. I used to live near a trailer park and I used to see some pretty nice cars and bass boats parked by those $10,000 trailers.

And that's the problem with making $300k a year; if you're smart enough to do that then your smart enough not to buy new $100k cars.

Not always. Read The Millionare Next Door. While it tells about prodigious accumulators of wealth, it also goes into detail about the folks who make high six figures and still spend everything they make and then some.

Hopefully true for most people, but a couple of observations;

Someone with a low six-figure income ($100-300K) in not going to accumulate wealth by buying $100K cars, the numbers just don't work. A $40K car is more appropriate.

Someone with that level of income has no excuse not to pay cash for their cars, and writing a check that large for a car will make you think twice.
