I know a couple people with them, they all love them. One guy is on his third, he drives a lot and has rolled the better part of 100k on the first two before trading them. All he does is change the oil every 20k miles like the factory tells you to. Not much else goes wrong.

On the roads around here you'd probably have bone problems after owning one for a few days.

Good, fun to drive cars, probably oen of the best handling FWD cars on the market today. They definitely aren't the most reliable of cars though... I'd probably go without the turbo if possible. Can get 40 or so MPG too that way.
I hate that center speedometer BS though. Such stupid gimmickry!

While it may sound "shallow" of me to mention it . . . unless you're aging gracefully, more than a few snickers are generated by seeing middle aged men driving Minis, Miatas, Lotus Elise' and the like.

The minis are really quick at the autocross....but not as quick as a Miata. The miata has a decent ride and the top goes down.
The Miata is also generally about bullet proof. Stay away from low mileage 99s though. Some had thrust bearing troubles....generally shows up befioe 50K if it does. less than 5% have the problem, IIRC.

The Mini Cooper S prior to the latest face lift is awesome.
Eagleco-94 bought one for his wife used.. Fully loaded minus the seat heaters.. 6 speed, super charged, etc.. Tons of fun if you get a mini, nothing less than the S.. you will regret getting just a cooper |

I agree, my dad and I picked one up for detail a year or so back and it was a cool little car, handled real nice and I had plenty of room in the front (I'm 6'2) my dad really liked it and pondered getting one...
The ONLY problem I have with them is they are so plasticy inside and I hate that, what was Mini thinking when they put so much plastic in that car?? Other than that, I really like them and think they're pretty fun. I would say go for it!!!

They were probably thinking that they wanted to build a $20-25K car, not a $30K car.

I'll admit that I do like the sound of the engine in the new Mini's.....it has a unique whine to it that is very cool.
