Mini Cooper S?

Anybody here have a Mini Cooper S? I was toying with the idea of buying one of those because they look like fun and I'm tired of spending so much for gas to drive for work.

I haven't driven one yet, but I'm thinking about it. I'd love to hear about your experiences with this car if you've owned or even driven one much.

I don't own one but I have spoken with several people who have one. None have regretted the purchase. All of them (men and women) have said they loved the car, great mileage and a blast to drive.

I also know a couple of people who like theirs, but I don't know any details of their experiences.

If load space is a priority then you might want to look elsewhere...other wise go for it! I sat inside one once and I will say that I got a kick out of its aircraft like switches, its just a neat little car.

I've driven a few, and other than the stiff ride it was enjoyable. If your commute consists of poor roads, I wouldn't want one.

I was thinking that might be true. I was also wondering whether I could stand to drive it on a 200-300 mile trip. I'm in my 50's now and can't tolerate rides like that like I could 30 years ago.

I'll just have to go take one for a test drive. Thanks for your input.

I've spent quite a few hours in both the driver's seat and the back seat of a Mini - while the driver's seat is not quite as comfortable as my Miata, it was perfectly enjoyable. Not Mercedes smooth, of course - this is a different animal. Tight, supportive, and precise.

I wouldn't hesitate to hop in a Mini for a cross country drive (something I've done in a Miata half a dozen times now) and I'm within a few months of hitting the half century mark myself.

Mini is not a bad ride, but please stay away from anything older than year 2006... do you research and you will see why

I think I recalled reading a review of them and they recommended not getting the run flats. Made the ride quite a bit harsher.

The only Mini Coopers I ever rode in were the old British ones and they were a lot of fun but you wouldn't want to go on a long trip in one. I like the new ones but I haven't had the chance to ride in or drive one but they look like fun.

I read an article in a car magazine on one some time ago and after the long term test they were not too thrilled about it. They said everything they enjoyed at first they ended up hating after a while. I personally have no experience with one, but according to my cousin who flipped one, they are very safe!
