December roll-call

Howdy All,
Here it is again. Now, I know I'm not the only one that has some things going on. I'll be taking 2 of the dogs out for some running competitions. Then it looks like I won't have to work during the company shut-down at the end of the month, so that means 11 days off :-) So, what is going on out there this month with you?

I'll be playing with 36KV within a day or so...for about 14 days...

We're in the process of "re-purposing" two analog TV transmitters by making full-powered digital backup transmitters out of them...complete with Remote-Controled RF Switching and the related controllers for each transmitter...we'll be drilling, wrenching, cussing, cursing (did I mention swearing too?) and all manners of manly sounds will be eminating from concrete buildings in the wildernesses of Colfax, WI. and La Crescent, MN..

OH JOY!

We'll see if January 2010 is in my future.

Estoy aqui.

We're right in the midst of our oil burner to high-efficiency gas space furnace conversion here at work. That's the extent of the excitement this time of year. Once Christmas passes and the stores move into springtime mode we get real busy shipping seed displays.

On the family front it's just the 2 oldest kids in 2 different basketball leagues on top of everything else they've got going on. My free-time is spent as a chauffeur. At least I have my iPhone to play with while waiting before and after.

Hi...been working on putting a new IP on the suburban. Hope to get it finished up soon and more importantly that the IP was the only issue.

I'm here and deep into finally selling my old house (bought another one 21 months ago). May close before Christmas!
Graplr, I hope you have better luck than my kid. His '94 6.5 had cracked heads.

Just finished a road trip with a fewer other Harley enthusiasts, first real ride for my new Softail. Rode old US 90 and Alt 90 from Houston to San Antonio thru the sad downtowns we now call "Walmart road kill". Brought back a lot of memories, I can only say it was a better day back then, a time when small town America was a special kind of paradise. US 90 was a contempory of Route 66 and US 1, anyone over the age of 50 knows the world I'm talking about- along the way we travelled old iron bridges built in the '20s and passed by what once were busy old Opera-house style movie theatres and what were once small towns were the small shopkeeper was king. One realizes, a world has gone by.

This month will spent repairing and remodeling a porch on the side of my house that took the direct hit from Hurricane Ike. I will be enclosing it as a room addition, adding hurricane shutters and such so I the next time around I won't have to replace the carpet in the main living room the next time a hurricane shoves a tree branch thru the window.

Well it was running great. I was on my way home about a month and a half ago and I hear a THUD and start loosing power. I get to the top of the exit ramp and it dies. I can restart it and idle but it seems unbalanced and dies when I shift to any gear. So immediately I think tranny/torque converter. But when I get it towed home I get no tranny codes...I get an IP code. So after thinking about it, it does make sense that the IP went bad and was causing the unbalanced idling since it would surge untrollably when tapping the accelerator.

Keep your fingers crossed for me that this is the only issue. I got a new factory rebuilt IP and new PMD pretty cheap, so we will see.

are you going to remote mount the PMD? Supposed to be good for it to put it on a big heat sink away from engine.

Dropping back in after a fairly lengthy hiatus. Hope everyone here is well. 83 SD has new wheels and tires, and is getting new Bilsteins soon, and keeps climbing closer to 300K.

It already was remote mounted. I will put the new PMD in place of the old PMD on the heat sync on the bumper.

The pump is in place and bolted in. The electrical, injection lines and intake manifold still needs to go back on/be hooked up. The scariest part is done as I was freaked out about dropping the bolts down into the engine. I messed up the timing marks and I rubbed the one of on the engine mount trying to clean it...may have to take it to the stealer to get it timed. I figure about 3-4 hours more of work before I can crank it up and see if that was the only issue. Now finding 3-4 hours of time is the hard part... I'm gone from 7-7 usually these days and busy most weekends as I coach in the winter in addition to my regular job. Good thing the SD is running well right now!
