Uganda is proposing legislation that would make homosexuality a capital crime and give three year prison sentences for people who knew someone was homosexual and did not report it to authorities and seven years in prison for advocating for gay rights.

After giving the matter some thought, I've come to the following unsympathetic and insensitive conclusion:

It's Uganda. I don't care what they do.

Edit: In college I wrote a paper about the ethnic violence in Rwanda in which I came to essentially the same conclusion. I got a good grade on it too.

I am pretty sure we were burning women for witch craft in our not so distant and brief past. Not sure what difference that makes. They are all part of the human race and as such, I think we should at least be concerned. One day in our future, we my want someone to be concerned for our well being.

Uganda aside, it should be of some concern that this policy was encouraged by powerful Washington insiders with close ties to the Ugandan administration.

Thats a good point, if they try to pass some of those nutty laws in this country than I do care.
