anybody else working/on call today?

I'm on call at the funeral home today, keeping my fingers crossed that I don't get called in because it's snowing and getting cold and I just don't want to leave the house. Anybody else on call or working today?

I was thinking the same thing. Who's ever happy that the funeral director is on call?

The only people happy to see me are the ones who REALLY need me. I'm kind of like the plumber, nobody gives us a thought unless they have a real, immediate need, but when they need us, we have to come running!

If I still had a job, I'd be working today, yesterday too.

Out of the last 35 years I have worked probably 30 Christmas days.

Refinerieys and Pipelines never stop, and you can't take your eyes off of them for more than a minute or two at a time.

Nope I'm working for my uncle now and he decided to take off starting wednesday. So no work till monday, and monday I might play hokey to go to cabelas. I'll have to see whats going on, he probably will want to start disconecting utilities at his new beach house so we can demo it. Hopefully its a nice easy day like that.

Had to look after my cattle today... After gifts, I have to go fix a broken machine for tomorrow... Does that count??

I have a psychotic toddler and a 6month old who thinks she's a year old, already standing (balancing) and trying to walk. Those plus three large dogs are a full time job. Yesterday I went to the shop and made my wife's Christmas present and worked on cleaning out the storage unit that is becoming my personal space, I'll finish it tomorrow. There's a ton of stuff that has to go to DI and they're closed today.

I'll be working from 5 p.m. to 1:30 a.m. today. I also worked last night. Will work New Year's Eve and Day as well. Somebody has to make the newspaper, every day.

This is what I USED to do. Declining advertising and sales.
