Norton 360 question

After a recent infection my computer tech installed Norton 360 on my computer.

Norton 360 requires me to enter my password EVERYTIME I log onto this site, or an email account, or any other often used site.
I understand this probably provides more protection, but it is tiresome.
Can I tell it to allow certain sites such as some forum and email sites without jeopardizing my security? I get tired of continually retyping my name and passwords.

I don't use any window machines, but I don't know anyone who recommends norton AV products. It is my understanding that there is other AV software that does as well with less overhead and hassle. I'm sure others have specific recommendations, including some free software.

Sorry, I don't have any specific advice, but Symantec Norton = nagware that you pay for

Also they design their software to be the hardest to "de-install"

I've been using Eset Nod32 on my home & office computers for over a year now. Very low system resources hog, and has saved me a few times when I clicked on something I should not have.
I think the last version of Norton AV I liked was like 20 years ago. Even then (Norton Utilities) it was a hog.

I dunno what Norton 360 is, but I've tried Norton 2009 and it's fantastic (definitely not a system hog like past versions.)

Now I just run Microsoft Security Essentials, havent run into any problems on my Windows 7 machine.

I've got Norton 360, and I don't need to enter passwords for sites I visit more than once, or my e-mail accounts. Ask the tech that set you up with 360 to fix it.

I have used Norton AV programs in the past. As previosly stated they were horrible. I decided to try Norton 360. It doesn't slow down the computer and it runs good. The tech will be able to get rid of the password.

Have you tried going into the settings for the program? Dont need a tech to do that.

if you google norton 360 cookies, seems quite a few people have problems with it. That link might work. Saw another post that said norton was blocking the cookies, not windows.

Thanks. That was information I could actually use.

I used to have that problem here and everywhere whenever I deleted internet files, cookies, etc.
But the new version of Explorer allows you to delete the history, cookies, etc. and still keep your passwords, etc in place. Good feature. BTW, I have McAfee AV stuff.

Free is better.

Microsoft Security Essentials is now free, and works great. You can install it after disabling your other AV program, just do not keep more than one AV program on at a time. The latest internet scourge seems to be trojans that the Microsoft Security Essentials was able to get off my system, after others did not.

Mininova is a bittorrent/ hacker site where you get illegal downloads for "free" - you also get lots of trojans and viruses attached to those freebies, so be sure to run a virus scan on anything that comes off that site.

I use a lot of Norton/Symantec’s a/v stuff. First, if the product is licensed you can probably call Symantec for support. Their support is generally very good or better. Here’s the number for their corporate a/v support group: 1-800-927-4017. They can probably direct you.

Second you can probably configure the software to disable most features. Go to their web site and look for info on it, or again, just call support.

Norton Products should be re-named "SlowYourPC Version X.X"

I'd never install any of that junk on my PC. In fact, Win7 comes with plenty of built in protection for most situations. Zero need for 3rd party stuff for the most part.
