Depends what you need it for. My ASUS netbook has been a fantastic investment for basic work like reading/writing schoolwork, surfing the net, music/movies. Any sort of processor-intensive work is tough on it though, like video editing but Photoshop runs okay. Highly recommend one of these since they're so cheap, light, portable. The only problem I had was when my 32" television randomly fell off of my dresser and smashed the thing. Amazingly it only busted the screen which was a $40 replacement since they are relatively small.

I mainly use the computer to visit sites, Post here etc, I dont do too much Graphics stuff but I use Dreamweaver once in awhile though. I've heard good things about Asus, I'll look into them, Thanks!

APPL iPhone $100 USD + activation. Nice little computer - works as a phone too.

My brother does all his business on his iPhone now... rarely ever touches his laptop anymore.

I own a couple of iphones too, but they're not cheap (it's about a $2000, two year commitment for each device).

I'm not a fan of the Iphone, It's small for my big fat fingers, it's a magnet to get stolen, I'd prolly wind up loosing the thing, I like my Blackberry Storm, but it's screen is small, and it's hard to get the forums to show up right on it.

My daughter has a blackberry curve, it seems to work well but I don't like the interface as well as the iphone. She likes to have a physical keyboard, I like touch-screens. I also like the iphone because it plays nicely with my macs.

Ebay

http://shop.ebay.com/i.html?_nkw=laptop&_armrs=1&_from=&_ipg=

If it's a cheapo laptop 200-300$ will get you a nice little laptop that can surf the internet and listen to some music.

I wouldn't get a netbook. Just get a used laptop from ebay for the time being.

I have an old white box Asus laptop with a Pentium M 1.5 ghz machine with 1gb of ram. I had the power settings set up in such a way that I could weasel out 5-6 hours of battery life It had a 14 in 1024x768 screen if i recall correctly.

My macbook pro just barely inches out 3 hours
