As the WSJ article alludes to, a lot is going to depend on how popular the particular model was. That's always been the case, even for companies that are still in existence. For instance, there's little to no trouble getting part for a Mercedes 190E 2.3 or 2.6, which sold over a million units worldwide over 10 years . . . but that's not the case for certain parts specific to the twincam version, 2.3-16.

I get a real laugh out of the people who will never buy an american made car, but spend hours and thousands of dollars repairing their $500 Mercedes.
I am on my third mercedes and looked at countless others, none of them junker's, and you can bet one or more of the same problems; cruise not working, climate control not working, injector pump leaking, air not working, motor mounts, etc, etc, etc. Can't remember having so much go wrong with an american built car and I owned many of them. ![]() |

![]() I'm in the old car hobby myself and I can find parts from the thirties pretty easy. I would'nt worry about pontiac or saturn parts, myself, for a real long time. |

Didn't you just this year drive a 1910 something down to the Toyota dealer to look at a Prius? I could only imagine the looks on their faces thinking you FINALLY decided to trade it in when you went on their lot!!! ![]()
