Pontiac, Saturn . . . Last Call Discounts

GM is offering dealerships up to $7K in "incentives" to clear out the discontinued cars. In some cases if the dealer passes on the incentive, that's possibly a 50% discount. A Pontiac G3 usually goes for $15,000. If the dealer passed on that incentive to you, it would cost $8,000.

Not worth it, there's a reason they are out of business.

If I wasn't poor, I'd really like to have a G8... the best car to come out of GM in the last 20 years.

You know what they say about cheap Mercedes . . .

There would be lots of considerations, like safety, costs of operation/fuel economy, warranty service to consider.

I know, I know but in this case is more about people needing money and willing to sell. The seller on this Merc is 78 years old neighbor and the car is just perfect. If I have a space I would buy it in a heart beat.

8K for "Something" GM used to make.

'Couldn't "Give It To me"
(Moral Grounds...['Against Excrement on Wheels] )

BUT,That's 1/5 of a CDI, OR 1/10 of a G Wagen.
(Not that I'd suggest you buy either)

They couldn't get me to take one, even if they gave me the $8,ooo to take it off their hands. GM hasn't made a worth while vehicle since sometime in the mid 90's and even then they were marginal at best. The old school Chevy engines and their systems are the greatest thing since sliced bread, but the rest of everything else they've made has been total garbage.

I believe I read somewhere that part of the "trick" includes transferring ownership to the dealer who then sells the car as a "used" car - since the dealer was the "first owner".

That may have some impact on the warranty and lemon law protections.

From what I read, the cars are sold as new, fully warranted. I believe there were some articles that said the incentive deal was "like getting a new car for the cost of a used one."
