Yeah, all you Florida/south people can have a taste of the cold! If you think "around freezing" is cold, try 14F or below! (it is currently 14F here with a stiff wind! Makes for about 0 or less wind chill, it hurts!)

Its actually about 10-12 degrees warmer by lake MI than it is inland right now, the lake keeps you "warmer" for most of the winter, but it does indeed give you about 3x as much snow if you are within 10-15 miles of the shore. I am about 40 miles away....so its colder, but less snow.

Moved to Texas from the Midwest a decade ago just to leave the harsh winter cold behind us!!!

With morning temps between 15F and 25F this year, I'm not sure if we avoided anything at all!!

I havent seen any of these critters around me, guess I should do a walk of the grounds.

difference about cold in FLA is, it will be gone next week and it will be 65F or warmer again for the rest of the year. Im a Cincy transplant and I dont complain about cold here becasue it is always colder there.

I can't wait until I get to the point in my life when I spend most of the winter somewhere warmer.

Winters sucks, working outside in the winter sucks even more. Nothing works right, everything is frozen, and it takes forever to get anything done.

You guys are so lucky to get actual weather, I HATE the weather here in southern California, it's so damn boring. Especially in the desert where i'm at, we get no action here except our 125oF summers.

You know I was watching the news a few nights ago last and they showed the weather in other parts of the country and then showed like Wisconsin or someplace like that and it was snowing and everyone was playing in the snow and laughing and you know what the weather man says? "look at all that snow, looks terrible!" while there are people having snowball fights and laughing in the background. I mean god forbid it drops below 70 degrees here.. We'd probably have a freeze warning here if it went below 70.

It's "winter" here and I had to use the a/c in the car the other day.. .wtf I know winter has its downsides and too much snow is really bad, but extreme heat to the point where you can't do anything during the day is just as bad, you just walk outside and you burst into flames... siiiigh ill trade places with one of you who live in the Arctic... LOL

Why would anybody want to live in a place like that? It's in the twenties at night here. That's plenty cold enough for me.

I heard speculation on radio news that the cold in Florida might weed out some of the python invasion in the everglades. I don't guess pythons would be any easier to find and catch owing to extreme cold, however.

I looked for any new info on that connected to the current cold snap and couldn't find it. I did find this bit about pythons freezing:

An alert has been put out. Now all that's left is for Chief O'Malley to fire up the big searchlight with the B on it.
