Everytime I am asked ethnicity on anything for me I put either black or American Indian. I figure I'll eventually get a reparations check or be able to open a casino on my ranch! For my kids I always leave it blank as I don't want them to either get preferential treatment or be passed over because of their ancestory. From what I understand the census can only ask how many people live in your house. Can anyone in the know confirm or debunk this?

Come to think of it, I've been alive for three prior censuses (correct plural form-I checked), and I've never seen a census form. I wonder why.

They also use statistical sampling. So if your town is predominantly one thing or another, they just assume everybody is the same and move on. This year If I am right, sampling will NOT be used so everybody will get a form. As for it being color blind I never fill in the ethnicity sections. I got the long form last time and I only filled in the number of people living in the home. The long form asked some pretty intrusive questions about income, education, etc...
