AFAIK, the bailout wasn't an Executive Order. Therefore, it can only be passed with Congress' blessing. If Congress had nixed it, he couldn't sign it whatever he wanted, can he?

Bottom line is, we (and most of the rest of the world) run on a system of central banking that has a cartel on the money supply; that is the status quo and that's how it will be. Republicans being elected to office won't change squat, failing banks will continue to be bailed out and bubbles will keep on being created and of course eventually popped. Our deficit is going to keep rising until the USD crashes (just MO). We'll boom and bust forever and only a select few tenths of a % (bankers + the politicians in their pockets) will reap the benefits while everyone else is screwed. The only prominent politician I've seen criticize this crap is Ron Paul and even the republicans don't like him because he's too conservative, and he has no populist support because he doesn't use catchy phrases or shoot **** from helicopters like Sarah Palin.

Ron Paul is more liberterian than republican. He doesn't believe in an Imperial USA---which is why many repubs do not agree with him. They like his fiscal policies, but not his foreign policy. Of course its the foreign intervention that drives at least a significant portion of the deficit. Cut out that military spending and costs come back closer to being in line.

I do. But I also remember previous Presidents urging all kinds of things too. Problem is sometimes they don't get it.

That's just it. We want a silver tongued devil and we wonder why we get into trouble.
