Meanwhile, back in the jungle, I mean the Federal Court House in NY, tomorrow is the anniversary of the capture of one Abdiwali Muse, he the lone survivor of the botched Alabama Maersk hijacking last Easter.
He's been cooling his heels in a NYC jail. for a year. In January he had a few more charges thrown at him relating to a couple of other hijackings.
(Just in case you missed it in the news vortex of health care.)

With the KSM trial going who know where, guess this will have to satisfy the locals searching for an enemy to have a NYC trial.

0ne minute accuracy

One minute accuracy at 20 miles is 30 feet, nine inches.

From a rolling platform that fires when a mechanical level says it is plumb.

Back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries, when battleships were THE ultimate weapon, just how accurate those heavy guns were at range was a closely guarded state secret - as much so as how accurate the warheads from an ICBM are today.

From that same era, the Army had big guns that were just as, if not more, accurate. Do a little research on the history of coastal artillery and fortifications we had prior to WWII. Seems to have been pretty much a forgotten subject as far as our military history. At one time, we had the largest system of coastal defense fortifications of any country.

Don't know if anyone caught it, but there was a show on NBC last night with Matt Lauer interviewing the Captain (Phillips), his wife and also the president and the first mate about the takeover of the Maersk Alabama and the Seals rescue of Phillips.

Pretty interesting show. Obama's remarks about learning quickly as CinC that the military can do what it says it can do and you very soon come to trust in their judgement speaks well of his own judgement.
BZ on that call Mr. President.

Yea I watched the show, very interesting, very well done.
Agree with the comments about OB, at least in one area he realizes a good leader is made by listening to the people he has working for him.
I wish he had better people working for him in other areas.

I thought the lawsuit by the crew was BS.

I still think Blackwater, or whatever they are called today, could make a business out of putting a couple of ex Marines/Seals ?? on board ships like that.
Probably cheaper than the insurance.
