What is the point? Just makes for potential headaches with certain drivers....

More stable, a lot of useless stuff is off by default. Drivers aren't an issue, theres no difference between the server/client drivers. My old laptop used to crash alot with XP, but not with Server 2003...

I'm still running XP on a now 8year old full size tower kit, with a 1.6ghz AMD chip. All I do on it is internet stuff anyways.
My wife has a 14month old laptop that wouldn't work with Vista hardly at all, so we put Ubuntu on it. That thing is so amazingly fast now, it's unreal. No garbage to bog it down.
If you're leaning towards an anti-Windows mentality, go Linux. You can then be a real hippie instead of the hippie with a trust fund and an Apple.

lol, it seems like every computer thread turns into an apple bashing thread.

I seem to be able to break any OS that I am running. And it just so happens that my Windows failure rate is higher than the failure rate of my Apple products.

Many of the drivers are the same, but not all.

Also, you can "optimize" XP, Win7, etc...by modifying which services are running etc....

So, where did you obtain an installation of Server 2008 R2? Its pretty expensive for the home user last time I checked.

Yes, but which OS do you use more on a daily basis?

By the way, what is the problem that's causing you to reformat? I don't think I've ever had to do that unless I had a physical hard drive failure.

I've had to re-format a few Mac's for people, if the file system gets too messed up then it is all over. Our Mac tech at work admits that they do have their flaws.

We need to add another nick name to your list... the Thrasher, cause you do tend to use stuff to the point of failure quite often. (computers, engines...) which is kind of impressive for a guy who takes good care of his stuff..

Just curious what his issue was, there are some pretty good tools to fix the file structure if it gets confused (I like diskwarrior because it completely rebuilds the directory). If I get those issues and they can't be easily resolved, I usually start to suspect a hardware issue with the drive. I normally upgrade either the drive or the computer before it ever needs to be re-formatted.

My problem lies with CS4 and CS5 not wanting to play nice, so it makes my computer hang.
