The jeeps used VM Motori italian diesels, nothing to do with mercedes. They could not pass the updated emissions standards. Upper 30s in MPG, no way. I drove a couple liberties, I didn't like them.

A dealer I worked for a couple years ago had a toureg, it always had a warning light on.
